The best thing is to be surprised by entrepreneurs who have found new capabilities and new categories.

However, there are some trends, categories, and industries that we are drawn towards, due to some combination of experience, interest, or belief.

  1. DeepTech, Hard Tech, Energy

We’re not afraid of looking into deeptech or hardtech startups, including Nuclear, Nanotechnology, and Quantum Computing startups. We believe in the coming of the second industrial revolution and would love to work on drawing it closer.

  2. Utopian Technologies

This could mean a lot of different things since we made it up. But we know it when we see it.

  3. Content, Community, & Commerce

Good things happen when you combine business models. Especially when you find yourself collecting the riches in niches. Al has built one of the finest implementations of content+community+commerce businesses in the world, and we believe there are many more of those out there.

  4. Ecommerce, and Ecomm Enablement

Al Doan is an Ecomm pioneer, and has a strong track record of investing and supporting fantastic ecomm businesses.
